The staff, food, location and stylish art filled public areas (hosts exhibitions in the corridors) with a stunning view over the city to Castel San Jorge and down to the River Tagus. Many reviews of the Hotel do Chiado said how wonderful the staff are, that is certainly true. We were warmly greeted outside of the door as our taxi drew up and shown to our rooms then guided round to the Bar/Restaurant and Breakfast Room. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, dealt well with my problems using the coffee machine and gave us a bottle of wine to compensate. As I was going out one morning the Receptionist expressed concern for my safety on the steep street, made slippery by the rain. I assured him I had sturdy trainers on and would go slowly. (In the Old City most of the streets are steeply sloping and paved with small irregular tiles or stones, trainers or walking shoes a must). The Breakfasts were very good and the Lunches / Dinners exceptional. The staff of the Rooftop bar/restaurant made it all great fun. The location was perfect, central, lots of restaurants and shops, very near the Baixa Chiado Metro Station and easy walking distance from the Main Square and the Tagus. Our rooms were comfortable, spacious, well equipped and very clean.

We really can't say enough good things about this hotel. From the minute we walked in the staff greeted us warmly and were super helpful to two confused and jet-lagged folks who'd suffered a major flight snafu. The room was very comfortable (great beds lots of pillows) but the best part was the terrace overlooking Lisbon. Our room definitely had one of the best views in the city. Definitely worth the price. We've stayed at hotels at home that cost more and definitely didn't have these kinds of views! Treat yourself and spend a little more and get a terrace room. You won't regret it. Over the course of our stay, every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful. They even gifted us a small sample of port as we left. Also, the food service was excellent. We had breakfast at the hotel a couple of times but we're happier catching a coffee and pastry at a neighborhood cafe. That said, the breakfast buffet was excellent. We also capped off several nights in the rooftop bar. Super friendly staff and a nice, but small, wine list. Perfect place to end the day. Overall, a to 10 stay for us. We'll definitely stay again when we return.

It is a wonderful hidden gem of a hotel. We have visited many times over the past 15 years , on our own and with teenage and now grown up kids. The staff are welcoming, efficient, friendly... and the rooms are smart, with really comfy beds. The roof top bar is an oasis of calm with stunning views across to the castle midst the Chiado district roof tops and high above the hustle and bustle of the streets below. It's a great base to explore the city, a few minutes walk from the central square by the river and access to trams and trolley buses, as well as all the wonderful streets and steps and alleyways that make Lisbon a delight. Bars, cafe's and restaurants of all types and prices are within minutes - Michelin stars to tiny, funky tapas. It is up a hill, but then much of Lisbon is! The breakfast buffet is lovely - hot and cold choices, simple and delicious. The bar also does light meals and is wonderful.

This hotel is in a terrific location for seeing all the main attractions that Lisbon has to offer. We loved our room which had an amazing view of Lisbon from our balcony. They have a great rooftop bar that has views of Lisbon and the sea. The breakfast was included in our stay and the room, the food and the staff were all extremely good. They are also nicely located close to many good restaurants, and the staff were all very knowledgeable when it came to recommendations and directions. Can’t say enough good things about this lovely hotel. Would definitely stay again when we come back to Lisbon.

Good location in the heart of historic Lisbon. Rooms are designed really nicely. Great shower. Wonderful staff. There was a small issue with our room on our first evening… I’m sure the heating mode on the aircon is very rarely needed in Lisbon, but we happened to stay on the coldest week of the year and our aircon was only cooling, not heating. I called reception and a staff member called Tomas came straight up. He was extremely helpful, trying to fix the problem and then moving us to another room where he had already put the heating on. It was nice and warm. We felt very well taken care of.
